What ages do you teach?
Wendy teaches children ages 3 through 10. Each lesson is tailored to the child's current skill level. Younger children focus on water comfort and basic safety. Older children build toward independent swimming and stroke technique.
How long is each lesson?
Each private lesson is 30 minutes. This duration is matched to the attention span of young swimmers for focused, high-quality instruction without fatigue.
Where do lessons take place?
All lessons take place at the family's home pool. Wendy travels to you. A private residential pool is required.
Do parents need to be present?
Yes. A parent or guardian must be present on the property during all lessons. Parents are welcome to observe from poolside. Wendy provides a brief summary after each session.
Can siblings take lessons together?
Sibling lessons may be arranged depending on age and skill level. Each sibling receives their own dedicated lesson time. Contact Wendy to discuss your family's situation.
Do you teach children with special needs?
Yes. Wendy has experience teaching special needs participants and working with Special Olympic athletes. She adapts instruction to each child's individual needs. Contact Wendy directly to discuss your child's situation.
Are you able to communicate using sign language?
Yes. Wendy is certified in American Sign Language and welcomes deaf and hard-of-hearing swimmers.
Scheduling
When does enrollment open?
Lesson dates open 1–2 weeks before each teaching date. Returning families receive early enrollment access before the waitlist is contacted.
How many lesson slots are available each week?
Wendy teaches two days per week, with a maximum of eight lessons per day. That is 16 total slots per week. Availability is intentionally limited.
What if my preferred date is full?
Join the waitlist on the Schedule page. You will be notified when new dates open. Returning families are contacted first.
What areas do you serve?
Wendy primarily serves Henderson and surrounding communities. All lessons take place at the family's home pool.
Safety
What certifications does Wendy hold?
Wendy holds American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, and First Aid & CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications. She is also certified in American Sign Language. She has worked professionally in aquatics since 2008.
What safety protocols are followed during lessons?
Every lesson begins with a safety review. Wendy follows American Red Cross water safety guidelines throughout each session. A parent or guardian is required to be present on the property at all times.
Is a background check available?
Yes. A current background check is available upon request. Contact Wendy directly if you require one before scheduling.
Policies
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations more than 24 hours before a lesson receive a full credit toward a future session. Cancellations within 24 hours may forfeit the deposit. Weather cancellations are always credited in full.
How much do lessons cost?
Individual lessons are $75 per session. The 12-lesson program is $720 ($60 per lesson) and is designed for families who want steady progress over the season. Contact Wendy for event lifeguarding pricing.
What is the weather policy?
Lessons may be rescheduled due to lightning, heavy rain, or unsafe pool conditions. Wendy will contact you as early as possible. Weather cancellations are always credited in full.
